Great experience!

The true experience of staying in a traditional house especially when the owner is staying there too, and the chance to taste typical breakfast for Korean family for a day. The house is up on a little slope, not too near the train station, and if one do not want to rely on the bus right at its door step, there are quite a bit of walking to do but serve as a good form of exercise. The neighbourhood is nice to explore.

A pity that we did not get to wear any traditional costumes which we saw other travellers worn and we also did not get the 2nd day's breakfast as we had to check out really early.

Wonderful

Beautiful traditional Korean stay. The location is perfect between the two palaces. The family is extremely helpful and friendly. We really loved the home cooked breakfast. We were initially worried about language constraints but it was no problem. Their daughter (Jane) speaks English, and we could easily communicate with Auntie too. They guided us with recommendations for food, places to visit, subway and bus routes, took care of our meal preferences and also helped us get a taxi while leaving. I would highly recommend this place for a unique traditional experience. The location is perfect to visit most of the spots around on foot. Thank you for hosting us. We hope to visit again.

Rooms are quite small so it is a bit congested. But since we spent most of our day outside we didn't mind it.

Lovely stay

A super lovely hanok. Breakfast is simple and heartwarming (different homecooked meal for the 3 days that we were there!). Room has heated flooring. Hosts are very friendly.

Our stays in Bukchonmaru

The property is clean and tidy. The hosts are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was tasty. We received warm greetings and enjoyed the feel of family there. We like the little garden in front of our room. Definitely recommend having a stay here.

Just this time, the construction is going on next door. A bit noisy. Room service was not happening.

Beautiful experience with amazing owners

The owners were absolutely amazing! They were super kind and welcoming and also did everything in their power to make our stay as good as possible. Their breakfast was also lovely and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!

Like a home away from home

Our hosts were extremely friendly, attentive and kind! It’s left a long lasting cosy memory and I hope to one day return if I ever stop by Seoul again. Amenities exceeded expectations with toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs etc being provided. The room was warm and the bedding extremely comfy. It was a really peaceful stay away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Seoul.

Just perfect

An amazing experience in a traditional Korean house. The architecture is incredible: it’s a real privilege to stay in an house like that with sliding doors made of wood and paper. On top of it, everything is perfectly clean and bathroom is new and with every comfort. Last but not least, staff is very welcome and kind.

Memorable

Staff and owner were nice to communicate with. Thoroughly enjoyed the free breakfast given and the owner took time to speak to me. Very friendly and lovely.

Good for a short stay experience! However, it's just the nature of Hanoks itself that the locking mechanism can only be done on the outside of the room. So when you are in the room, there is no ability to lock it. It was fine for me as I went there just for a night and had a good stay. If I were to stay for a long period, I don't think I'd be very comfortable if my room cannot be locked.

Welcoming, authentic experience

It was a lovely place to stay. The elderly couple who own it would do literally anything they could to help, to the extent that when I had trouble uploading my COVID test, she even called her son in the US to translate and loaned me her phone. The beds were thick foam futons on the heated floor, very comfortable, and we had a nice bathroom. The breakfast was different each day, typically coffee with a different type of porridge, followed by dumplings or jeon (pancakes) which were all delicious. Felt very at home, and enjoyed meeting other travelers. This is right at the North end of the Bukchon Hanok village, and the Jongno 1 bus literally stops in front of the house.

My only wish was that I had stayed here later in the trip. We arrived in the evening, very jet-lagged, in a typhoon, so negotiating a new country and 2 bus lines from Seoul station seemed challenging. I would have so loved to come here after the big hotel and enjoy the experience and practice my Korean more.

Amazing host, lovely way to experience traditional house

it was a very beautiful traditional house, with an amazing view on the breakfast area. the futon was in great condition & the private toilet was cozy but fully functional

beautiful building, perfect location for exploring bukcho and close to the bus/ subway. hosts were lovely and put in a lot of effort to helping us.

the double funton is quite small for 2 people so only travel with friends you don’t mind being close to!
